Song of the Day: Jenny Owen Youngs, “Love For Long”
Jenny Owen Youngs is a supremely talented singer-songwriter whose tenacity shines through in even the poppiest material. Her new album An Unwavering Band of Light has the accessibility of mainstream pop, but the character and originality of a great underground rock record. Youngs self-released the record, adding to its DIY appeal (and reeling in jaded punks like me). Merging those two sounds described above is a difficult thing to do; that’s probably why we don’t hear more of it. “Love For Long” is the first, and best, track on the album. Get on the bandwagon now.
