Song of the Day: Rodriguez, “Can’t Get Away”
They say that everything happens for a reason. I truly believe that, although it’s sometimes hard to see it at the time. Yesterday was a prime example of that happening. I’d woken up at 6 a.m.; I wasn’t thrilled about that as it’s kind of early for a Sunday. On the positive side, at least I could get a bunch of stuff accomplished, since it was supposed to be a beautiful day, I wanted to be outside doing many things was meeting a friend at WXPN’s “Big Day Out” event at 2pm. I also had to be ready for the season premiere of Mad Men at 9pm. I also had just gotten Apple TV and wanted to set it up. I’m not really an early adopter, as I just got an iPhone last week, but as soon as I heard I could access my 25,000 songs through my TV and have them in surround sound I was hooked. There is even an app that lets you control everything through your iPhone or iPad. The first thing I saw upon hooking everything up was the trailer for Searching For Sugar Man. I’d wanted to see that documentary for 6+ months so I bought it and started to watch it at 7am yesterday. WOW! What an amazing story. The guy is amazing, his music was so melodic, so poignant, so inspiring. As soon as the movie was over I bought his first two albums, then while listening to them I did a search to see if he was touring. Here is the point of this story, he is playing at The Keswick Theater tonight, how’s that for great timing? I’m going and here is today’s song. Rodriguez, “Can’t Get Away.” I highly recommend the movie and albums.
