Song of the Day: Royal Headache, “Never Again”
The Discover feature on Bandcamp is really great. It allows users to sort music by genre, release date, best-selling etc. and for fans of independent music that enjoy virtually leafing through the site’s huge jukebox of tunes for sale, it’s an awesome resource for finding new music that one might never hear otherwise. There’s also an option to create a user profile and share what you’re buying with your friends—follow me to good taste!
I spend a lot of my Saturday mornings going through music on Bandcamp this way, and came across Sydney, Australia’s Royal Headache this past weekend. The band play a brand of garage-punk that’s rough around the edges, with an extremely talented, souful lead singer that give their songs a lot of personality. It’s like the Marked Men meets Motown, and it rules.
